(My Story) CBD oil + Anxiety + Depression

Updated: Jun 24, 2019

I am sure A LOT of you have heard of CBD oil.  It is EVERYWHERE.

Why did I become so passionate about this plant?  Yes, CBD oil is derived from the HEMP PLANT, which was recently legalized in every state, separating it from THC - Marijuana, the stuff that gets you high.

So why CBD oil?

I have a history of mental illness in my family and was prescribed an anti-depressant in my early twenties because - well, I was depressed. But here is the thing: I knew, deep in my heart, that being on an anti-depressant wasn't the way I was going to feel happier or less anxious and depressed. Sure, it helped for the first few months, but it didn't help me DEAL with what I was actually feeling and experiencing.

And so I began to dig deeper.

I started reading, meditating, and implementing new practices into my life that helped me feel less anxious and depressed. And now I want to share them with you.

Below are a few things that have helped me along the years to feel less anxious, depressed, and all in all, happier and more free!

#1 Meditating - I wasn't sure how to meditate or why it was important for me to practice, but I had this urge to learn and incorporate it into my life. Now I practice it almost daily.

Tip: If you feel called to learn, reach out to me and I can share with you how I got started.

#2 Diving into the SELF-HELP section. Back then, I didn't even know there was a term for the books I was reading: Self Help! All I knew was that they helped me feel better and gave me comfort amid feeling confused about myself and future.

#3 Writing and A LOT of it. I've always kept a journal, but during these turbulent times, keeping a journal was ESSENTIAL. Whenever I faced a fear or a nagging feeling head on, it almost always made me feel better and gave me a better sense of clarity and purpose.

Tip: Go grab or buy a journal and start to write. Commit to doing it for a week. Every morning, wake up and write three pages. You will feel like a totally different person if you do this.

#4. Stopped eating BAD. I have always been sensitive to certain foods, but for a lot of my life, food was a type of therapy for me, but it also left me feeling sick. I stopped eating Gluten and Dairy and cleaned up my diet. I believe it helped me feel less anxious and depressed.

#5. Became a life coach. This absolutely changed my life. I got to heal parts of myself I had been at war with for years. I faced some of my biggest fears and healed past trauma. It FREED me in a way I had always wanted, but never knew how to do on my own.

#6. Traveled - SOLO. This was also an epic experience for me. It helped me remember that I capable of taking care of myself and I don't need anyone to feel good about myself.

#7 CBD oil. When I was first introduced to CBD oil, I wasn't entirely sure what it was, but when I saw the research coming out and how it was helping people anxiety and depression, I instantly became intrigued.

We live in a pretty stressful time and a lot of us are living from a place of FIGHT or FLIGHT, which can be detrimental to our physical, emotional, and mental health. CBD oil effects the nervous system, helping the body go from fight or flight to REST & RELAX. I believe it is the medicine we have all been looking for.

Tip: Do your own research! Google the benefits of CBD oil and see what you find. And talk to me!

And so here is the thing: We are all different and what might work for someone, may not work for another. That's okay. Find what works for you and do it.
